let me walk you tru SOH. You first determine off the team card thier offensive rating ( 1d6- and home or away ratings). Then you find out what goalie is starting (2d6 roll)using his D rating which incorporates the team D rating. Cross reference those 2 ratings from a matrix grid .......you now have both teams scoring chances. Lets say home 1-22, visitors 76-00. GAME ON !!!!
YOU FLIP THE FIRST FAC. .....READ THE MINUTES ELAPSED AND SOG PER TEAM.
FLIP SECOND FAC TO SEE IF THEIR IS A SCORING CHANCE USING THE 1-22 or THE 76-00 , 1) IF NOT FLIP ANOTHER TIMING/SOG FAC
2 ) IF IT FALLS INTO THOSE RANGES, YOU FLIP A FAC TO SEE WHAT PLAYER HAS THE THE CHANCE (LETTER GRADE) A-Z. FLIP ANOTHER FOR FROM WHERE (BLUE LINE, FACE OFF CIRCLE OR SLOT). FLIP ANOTHER AND GET RESULT FROM EITHER OF THOSE RANGES. GOAL, NG, SAVE, DONE!!!! MOVE ONTO NEXT TIMING FAC...RINSE AND REPEAT ....
IF A GOAL IS SCORED YOU THEN SEE ON THE FAC, WHAT LINE / DEFENSE PAIRING WAS ON THE ICE. FLIP ANOTHER FAC TO SEE WHO ASSISTED. I SUGGEST PLAYING WITHOUT PENALTIES TO START, THEN BRING PENALTIES INTO THE GAME ... RARE PLAYS, SHORT HANDED, POWER PLAYS ARE ALL IN THE FACS .......ITS A BRILLIANT GAME ....

Gaz,
Thanks for the walk through of the game.
I know you have done it various times on the forums.
SOH is a great game. It is fun and plays easily.

Yes, that was what I saw in the YouTube videos that I watched. I get how it works, I just didn't care for how the gameplay goes, and I found it difficult to follow the ratings for determining who was involved, etc. Just not the kind of thing I was looking for in a hockey game.
But like you said, if I found one that I like (Hockey Blast Express) and I'm happy with the results (and I am, thoroughly!) then I've already won.
Again, the rest of y'all can enjoy Shootout Hockey. I'm glad many of you enjoy it.

Rick, the chart is on the Free Stuff page on the plaay dot com website.
Go to Hockey Blast Free Stuff, then click on Hockey Blast Game Helps, then click on HB Optional Penalty/Shoot-Out (David Gambrill).
That's how I found it.
